The CV boot on the passenger side was unclipped, but thats been stuffed full of grease and re-fitted properly and it's made no difference :)

Might try changing over the steering arms if it isn't a big job and see what happens.

You should be able to diagnose drive shaft joints by being related to road speed. A strut could be worse when cold as the oil in the damper will also be cold 'n thick. Braking would make a difference as it would cause the nose to dive and compress the strut joint. Most gearboxes fill by a plug at half height so the oil runs out when they are filled to the right level.
