All these holidays you have mean there's no time for the mini

Hi all,

few more jobs ticked off the  MOT list

final%209_zpsw0ydl0we.jpg

final%208_zpswzkmeipj.jpg

final%206_zpssqsxyaum.jpg

Couple of forgotten bits fitted to hubs and callipers and replaced the boots on the track rod ends.  The rubbers had just perished after the years but the ends were perfect as they haven't been driven on.

final%207_zpswidyahrx.jpg

Sorry pic is out of focus but you get the idea !  Just needs the actual track adjusting and brakes bleeding.  Only frustrating thing was one of my new tyres isn't holding air so will have to get it re sealed before I can fit the wheel.

The replacement wings I got all those years ago didn't have the air vent tube straps so I have secured the offside tube with a very thick tie wrap through an existing hole in the wing.

How I left it today

Not far off now, it's just time !

looks good!

Your wiper wheelboxes look like they are upside down.

Have you set a deadline for the MOT?

Nearly there now!

As ben has said, wiper boxes are on the wrong way. I'm guessing you fitted the other 2 bolts to the hub?

I’ve been reading for the last few days on and off and it’s been giving me so much excitement for buying my first mini! Very impressive that you’ve tackled it all yourself! Can’t wait to see it finished :)

Hi all,

well, leaving it to stand for two years with water in the gutter is never a good idea !!  The paing had cracked so I rubbed it down today and seam sealed and put some paint on to protect.  When dry I will rub down and apply anothe coat.

final%2020_zps3v5osybf.jpg

final%2021_zpsfo1horuz.jpg

I decided a while ago that a rust free mini with dodgy paint on the road is better than a rusty one on the road lol !!  It will definitely be a 20 yard car, but as long as I get it on the road it will be fine.

Next was the grill and buttons.  Started by scratching the paint so more touching up to do, hey ho,, refer to my earlier comment lol.

Grill buttons went on relatively pain free.

final%2018_zpsxjg5xceb.jpg

final14_zps3ziy2xpo.jpg

That's as good as its getting due to the non heritage front panel and wings.  The distance between the headlight on the passenger side is fins but the driver's side is very tight.  Can just about squeeze the headlight ring on.  Not what I wanted but one step closer.

final%2016_zpsrrvkdakh.jpg

final%2015_zpsn3wuv4xe.jpg

The ring ust passes the grill sealing strip but as I said before it will be a 20 yard car !!

Also finished cleaning the inside of the petrol tank with vinegar and jet washer the crap that came out was unbelievable but it will stop all that muck and rust clogging things up.

final%2012_zpserot50yj.jpg

final%2013_zpspl6h8o8y.jpg

That's all for now.  The list is getting shorter !

Regards,

Graham

Hi all,

not been on for a while but wanted to report that I have finished the mini.  MOT last month with a carb set up and a few minor bits done it sailed through.  170 miles in it is going well, just a blocked fuel filter stopped it and a new altenator as the old one was charging battery at 18v.  Suspension needs raising desperately tho lol.

Hopefully it will be reliable as its got to make it to France where its new home awaits.

It has been a pleasure reporting on it's progress and will no doubt be on the technical problem pages regularly.

Regards,

Graham
