You're pasting the wrong code from flickr, you want to be pasting bbcode and not HTMLI like the new forum. Took a bit of getting used to, and I do think the facebook elements are a bit pointless, but I can carry on using as I did the previous version without fuss. Some things work much smoother too, I like the options available under 'new content'.
I'm not sure if this is due to the forum or me, but when I post in my project thread with photos from flickr, the post shows all the formatting code too. Is it okay to go back and delete the code? It's only done it since the upgrade.

It would make even more sense if there was an auto spell checker/grammar checker for our *ahem* hedumacationally disadvantaged members....

Use Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer.

Is the photo more than 100KB? Because that will cause it to fail.me too, i click on change on my current photo, browse for a new one. hit upload then it says failed everytime...?

how do i make it smaller? its 942KB atm.Is the photo more than 100KB? Because that will cause it to fail.
