Hope someone who might have had to sort out an ebay case before can help. I sold a few items on there about a week ago and I received a case today that one of the buyers opened saying the item has not arrived yet. It has made my paypal account in the red.
I have proof of posting with his postcode and house number.... where do I stand. I've never had to deal with a problem on ebay before :(

Put quite simply, unless you can prove that the item arrived (not was sent) they buyer will be refunded.

I've had this numerous of times, give paypal a ring, they are excellent.

if you have proof of postage with destonation, you usually win the case, paypal are really helpful but will probably take about 7 days.

Get the number of the website and give them a call, if you have any quesions PM me

Cheers

You need proof of delivery, not postage. It is the sellers responsibility to ensure the item reaches the buyer and is the one who has to take the hit if it doesn't.

Unless it was sent recorded or special delivery, you don't have a leg to stand on. However, if it really is just a week since it was sold, you really want to get the buyer to wait a little longer as it may still turn up. What service was used? Also, did you have any other contact off them before the dispute?

Have had a problem the opposite way recently with an ebay.co.uk seller. I paid for parts and were to be shipped to me in Canada. Seller kept telling me "wait - I'll look into it" and nothing would happen. By the time I got fed up with it I couldn't file an investigation with Paypal (45 day max), and the seller refuses to do anything about the matter further - refund, replacement of parcel, or even so much as a discount on a future purchase! Not a lot I can do as I'm a long way from Walsall.

RE: OP...did you submit your info to Paypal?

the paperwork involved with the royal mail and the time fram they deal with things, makes it easier to just write it off.

been there unfortunately.

one guy didnt pay for the item after 2weeks of my auction ending so i relisted it (i had messaged him about 10times).
he then opened a claim up after about a month saying his item hadn't arrived.
i rarely sell on eBay since.

I've had this before and i've won all the times in the past, If on the ebay listing you do not specify that it is sent recorded usually you'll be fine, unless the buyer has better evidence of not reciving it.

There is a hell of alot of people who claim they don't recive things and get a refund, so then the get the item for free, hate people that do this.

But if its only been a week, give it another week as royal mail can be horrendous sometimes

Cheers

It was sent standard parcel. He emailed me the other day saying that he needs the item for when he goes racing on thursday, so I replied letting him know it was sent on the 8th, But like when you open a case you have the options and he choose the one saying that I didn't reply to his message when I did! :(

If you PM me with an address and some details, I'll pop round and have a word if you like? I work in Walsall, I may be of no help at all, but you never know....

It says "You and the buyer have until 29 Jun, 2012 to resolve the issue. If you and the buyer don't reach a resolution by 23 May, 2012, the buyer could escalate the case to Customer Support".

Item ended and paid for on the 6th and I posted on the 8th in the morning. Grrr so annoying!

I will always post my items recorded or registered etc. Saves me any of this pump.

The missus got seen off like this so it was a lesson identified. Fortunately it wasn't for a huge amount.

How can it be the sellers responsibility to ensure the item gets to the specified address?? Surely it's royal mails responsibility! (or the currior)...
The seller can only have proof of postage unless its tracked and not all items are. If it is the sellers responsibility he may as well deliver it himself ha ha

If the item is lost then you will need to make a claim with Royal Mail. They offer up to £46 compensation on items sent by Standard Parcels.
