Bit of a problem i took out my engine and replaced the clutch, when i put the engine back in it now seems that the clutch is constantly engaged. Ive looked at another mini there is a gap where the entree bolt comes out the bell housing and there is not on mine. I have also put on a new slave and nothing happened and the clutch peddle is solid. Can any one shed any light?

Many thanks Nic

The bit you are describing is the throw out stop. It limits the clutch travel so you can only push it far enough to disengage the clutch, i.e. disconnect the engine from the gearbox. If you mean the engine is permanently disengaged it could be seized in the clutch cover. If you mean you can't disconnect the engine; the throwout stop is screwed up too tight.

As 'Ethel' says, just re-set the overthrow stops.
To do this undo both of the nuts in the centre of the clutch cover (the 'wok) and back them off until they are completely clear of the cover even when the clutch pedal is pushed right down. At this point your clutch should be working properly - check this.
If it is, with the clutch pedal pushed to the floor, screw in the inner nut which has a flange on it until it just touches the cover. release the pedal and turn that inner nut 1/2 a flat (1/2 a flat, not 1/2 a turn!). Then screw the outer nut, which is a locknut, up to the inner nur and do it up tight to hold the setting.
Jobsagoodun!

I just had this problem this morning on a mini im doing an engine change on, clutch was stuck on, pedal solid. I used a big solid bar and a hammer, tapped the two big nuts from above, and it gradually came free, gave it a good bit of grease and its fine now.

Try opening the bleed screw. If the arm doesn't return, unbolt the slave and see if that lets the arm move.

Give the big nut at the end a tap from above, looks exactly the same as the one i did earlier.

I have undone the bleed screw and nothing happened and I then took the slave off and again nothing And I've given it a couple big hit and nothing there should be a gap between the bolts and the housing an there isn't :( and it is just sitting there and it won't return

Starting the engine is pointless, as the clutch operating lever is jammed, not any rotating part. There has to be something wrong with the lever or the plunger.

I suppose the lever is in right way up, ball end pointing straight down?

Undo the split pin and pull out the pivot pin to see what happens.

I haven't touched any of the arm, the main shaft which the nuts are on should be sticking out shouldn't it? But it is sitting in. I have to push the arm towards the engine to get it out like this

How do I get it to stay out so the slave can push it in or what has failed to push the plunger out. Does that make sence?

Did you refit the clutch release bearing or the top hat that pushes on the diaphragm springs to disengage clutch??

Looking at your pics the clutch isnt pushing the arm back out.............
