Really don't know what to do with Effy (my Mini Thirty). had her since Christmas now and I really can't decide whether to restore her and have the cherry red paint done or go for a nice satin black with starmags and sell the Thirty interior and wheels?

Would this strongly affect the value?
Should I keep the old parts?

I hope to keep her for a very long time, as long as I can really.

It's up to you

My personal observations (aside from my bias towards standard cars) are that good standard Minis are getting much harder to come by nowadays and thus fetch more money - even basic models.

There are a few projects on here putting cars back to original, plus being a mini 30 it might be worth that little bit more original.

Hmmmm, that's why I was thinking of getting it wrapped, then I'm not changing the colour, but then there's the problem of rust if water were to get in :(
I do like my car as standard, but there are so many tasteful mods, it's hard to decide.

I'm Mr Standard....but as long as any changes you make are easy to put back and you keep all the original parts then go for it. But yeah value wise originality = higher value

:proud:

You could always stick to stuff that just bolts on and keep the stock parts for if you come to sell (or have a change of heart).

My personal ethos is that every non-standard part added just makes more noise and breaks sooner ... but that's just me being old before my time, most likely (I am only 21).

i have a mini equinox... one of only 750 made (altough many mins are limited edition lol) and everything ive modified... ive kept the original as value can be lost if you dont have all these bits..

depends on what you want outa the car etc aswell... could leave it looking standard but change the engine etc?? uprate parts?? obviously tell ur insuracne if u do things like that

I'm thinking of getting it wrapped in satin black, starmag alloys and a cobra interior. All which is relatively easy to put back if I keep the standard parts.

Although I suppose I need a new scuttle first and couple of things first. Do none genuine panels affect value or is there no way to tell once they're fitted?

If they're fitted well, nobody would know. Problem is - they are a pain to get straight.
You would be better spending a little more on genuine panels and save on extra time at the welders.

Going off topic a bit, but just out of curiosity, where is the best value for spares? Is it minispares?

They're much of a much really. I have always used MiniSpares as a first choice though.

i agree with everyone standard is worth more, but what do you want out of your mini is the question you have to ask yourself, i did my mini exactly how i wanted it and i love it the way it is, and the best things its mostly bolt on bits, i have changed my arches once because i liked the look of some other ones, there are so many bolt on parts you can get and some things you can make yourself or change

Sounds like time to do some sums.

Cost of wrapping & restoring to original condition at a later date vs doing it up now to your own taste, and painting to original later - or the difference in sale value.

I don't think the wrong colour will detract much compared to original, but scabby.
