Utopia I wish! Sadly while on the way to Gaydon in the Yellow GT it started making the most horrendous noises. We think coming from the bottom end of the engine. The car then died at 50mph and left us on the side of the road! I think the expression is the engine is Mullered. Not what you expect from an engine with only 300 miles since a complete rebuild.

It is a standard colour I'm afraid, it's Inca yellow. The white car is glacier white. The green one is currently BRG, but was originally Astral blue.

Now I've hit a rather large obstacle. Is there a hope in hell of me getting a whole exhaust system into the car with engine in situ?

I've removed the driveshafts, but I'm still struggling, any advice?

losen the bulkhead steady, and the bols that hold the engine so it can move a bit forward and backwards

I managed to fit full exhaust with engine in, a LOT of wiggling about and cursing, job done in the end. Had the front end up on axle stands on top of some block paving slabs, arse end on ramps on top of slabs again. That extra inch and a bit allowed em to rotate the front end up towards the head while lifting the elbow up.

Only got my hand stuck once!

So it took a long time, a lot of brute force but i got the exhaust on. I'm so stubborn, I have a newish stainless RC40, but i really don't like it. So chose to subject myself to this just to fit a Janspeed!

only had to take off the offside hub off, driveshafts, all engine mounts, petrol pump, and the clutch slave cylinder.

Now I just need to work out why the ignition system doesn't work!

So after a week of fighting the car, I have a result.

It's my first experience with a ballast ignition system, so that was a learning curve! solid 185psi across all 4 cylinders which i'm very happy with. The Janspeed exhuast sounds exactly as I wanted, a lovely mellow roughty note.

Very happy chappy.

So after having the car running, I stop it to refit the outer cv joint with a new gaiter. When trying to start it again, sound like I've got no spark. I check the ignition, and the points are way off. I try to adjust them back and they don't go in far enough to touch the spindle. Very odd. New points and it fired again. Im now failing at setting the ignition timing.

I also have a frozen engaged clutch. The clutch arm moves but doesn't disengage the clutch! This car is fighting me on every turn!
