Hi all.

Here we have our small project. A 1976 Clubman Auto.

It was spotted for sale in a local Post Office window and I found it impossible to resist.

Digits dialed, viewing arranged.

Car had been three quarters restored by an elderly gent who then sadly passed away.

It looked good but wouldnt start. We dicided to pay for it and push it the half mile home.

Made it home.

Looks better in the light.

Moar updates follow. Stay tuned.

Unloading of the car began. (car was full of rubish, **** seat covers and general smelly filth. Found the origonal hubcaps though.)

Some pics of the day.

On the whole, after a look round, we are pleased with what we did.

Best check for grot and see if we can get it going then......................

Floors look good. Small holes under the rear storage pockets though. Will have to fire up the Mig.

Just the aforementioned crusty pockets to deal with. We think, anyway. It's a Mini though, so all bets are off.

New plugs, fresh fuel and some easy start are prescribed.

We do this:

More progress.

Cleared the rest of the car out and cleared up the problem areas for welding.

Found this gem:

You know. Because Mizel Cars!

Now clear.

Now also clear.

Hard to see, but the holes are larger than origonally thought. But still not bad.

Carpet out.

Some more of sexy stiff metal.

Looks to be a solid Clubby. Not sure about those wheel arches though.

Looks a craker mate, i personaly like the standard look with the arches, filling arches has become too popular now, its time to get the "Arch look scene" going ;)

I see you,ve started cleaning the rear bulkhad up.....just incase you dont realise when you start welding and grinding make sure you eihter remove or cover th window glass os it doesn't get sparks flying up and melting into the glass as it'l always be there and if its on the outside your windows start to rust :/

Got to say this is one tidy clubman, may i ask how much you got it for  ?

Cheers

Cliff

Cheers for the tip Cliff. Hadnt really considered that.

I couldnt afford to buy it when I came across it, so had to go in halfs with a friend.

The plan is to finish it off, get it road fit and MOT'd, put a few running in miles on  and then release it to someone that can look after it long term.

Neither of us have a garage, and it would be a shame to watch it sit out in the rain.

Putting back together begins.

Front sound deadeninging.

Back was similar, but no pics.

Carpet down, front and back.

Rear seats in.

Nice shiny rear view mirror fitted:

Original wheel back on:

njFopTd.jpg

Would have liked to have got the new wing mirrors on too, but it seems Hankins has sold me some with no base plates.

So I have no way to attatch them to the car. Kind of wish I said no when he asked for payment via Paypal gift now.

Thats all for today.
