Could be viewed as flaming?

Anyway lets get back on track.

See the point from my earlier post that has been overlooked due to the payment of a fiver!

Rather than just deleting the comments that the members have added on their forum could mods please add a comment like "Inappropriate comments removed" or simular as a minimum of common decency or issue a warning if rules have been broken?

In the past i have had a mod remove some text just leaving a smiley face

a different mod has then come along and issued a warning for spamming

you can't beat the system just put up with it or move on

The thing it boils down to is time.

For example, lets say this thread has 10 post I need to deal with and we'll assume they're all on one page.

Removing them takes 12 clicks and 1 page load. You can probably do the whole action in around 10-15 seconds.

Editing each individual post would involve clicking edit, selecting the offending comment, removing it, adding a reason for editing (e.g. 'Inappropriate comment removed.') and clicking submit. The minimum effort required here would be at least, 40 clicks and 20 page loads. It'd probably take at least 2 or 3 minutes.

It's just not realistic.

I'll look in to if there is the possibility of notifications when a moderator takes action on one of your posts, this would solve the issue from both sides of the discussion.

Sounds a good plan.

Ian, read the thread that the OP is complaining about. That's exactly what we did!

No idea about that thread,

What I am refering to was having posts removed from a thread I contributed in a couple of months without notice, and smiley face, a warning or any mark up on the post - just a deletion

The point I was trying to make, is that if the team want the benefits of TMF+ we have to pay for it.

We all give up our time to try and help the forum run, it's not always easy at work in my lunch time or having a WPP to edit things on my phone, however hiding comments is very straight forward

This thread alone is indicative of why posts are removed from some members.

Great work in making the forum a friendlier place to be for all and not bending the rules for the few...

If your posts get hidden can you ( person who wrote them ) see them and not the forum? As I'm sure it's happened to me as I've started topics but had no replies....:0)

No, any posts that are hidden are removed from public view so that only mods/admin can see them. To everyone else (inclufing the OP), they will have effectively disaspeared. So if you started a thread that received no replies, then I'm afraid that it was because nobody replied to it, not because it couldn't be seen.
