Original Dunlop's are being refurbished for the van, I do like to see Dunlop's on the vans ;-)

Here is one that was prepared earlier...

No more jelly bum ;-)

Nice work mate It was in desperate need for that, Time is ticking down for IMM but I believe we will have it ready, No problem,

The van is going straight to Wayne "Street Tweeks" over at Car Perfection near to Wolverhampton straight from Shifty where it will undergo its final transformation into a minter..

"Watch this space !!" lol

I'll get the back end finished tomorrow, hopefully do the A-panel as well.  That leaves the doors and the brakes etc to do.

With a bit of luck it will be back to you next saturday!!

That would be ideal that would mate, It would leave me with 10 -11 days to finish the prep and then a week or so for paint and re fit so touch wood all goes to plan and we finish in time ;-)

I've also a 50s hot rod to help prep over the next couple of weeks for Car Perfection but I believe I will have enough time to get the van ready for paint, I may have to put in a few late nights towards the end but the thought of it all finished will get me there  ;-)

Had another session on it today, not may pictures but quite a lot of progress!!

Fitted the rear valance and tided up the load bed floor, also fitted the strengthening panel that goes behind it.  If you say it quickly it sounds easy!!

The pattern valance didn't have a lot of shape and the rear floor of the van was out of shape!! I had to do a lot of reshaping on them to make it close, even then when you clamped it it pulled out of shape very easily.

What I needed to do was weld the 2 together and then shape them, impossible if you fitted the panel behind, which you had to do before you fitted the dammed valance!!

My solution was to cut the strengthening panel in 1/2!! This meant it could be fitted after the valance!!

10500246_10153112647259119_2289780576280

Sucess!!!

Next was the welding on the rear door frame.

10358873_10153112647609119_2992358209982

Still got a bit more tidying up to do on this but its strong and solid now.

I got bored of doing the backend so I had a quick look at the A-panel and door skin fit

10509748_10153112646394119_6172149966087

Seems an ok fit, needs some work but not a lot, the pattern door skin looks ok as well.

I also removed the locking wheel nuts as well!!

Had another crack at this today, not got a lot of time and there's a lot to do!!

Still got a bit more finishing off to do on the back end but I decided to have a crack at the door instead!!

At a glance it didn't look too bad but it had been reskinned and had some dodgy repairs on the bottom.  So I dragged out my trusty door skin removal tool,,

10426903_10153114786124119_2826803073223

Pulled the skin off the door

10501625_10153114786844119_3469066808564

10487421_10153114787874119_7173432855743

Let in a new bottom..

10456136_10153114784774119_7729701515747

10501643_10153114785494119_3175939552048

The put the skin on, as this is a budget build we used pattern skins, not too bad a fit, needed a bit of tweaking..

10446476_10153114784409119_7498820726323

10462709_10153114784144119_7675838230749

10336767_10153114783724119_8682572120812

Finally tried it in the hole to make sure it still fitted..

10408559_10153114783004119_3038807749142

Not too bad, the A-panel needs to go forward at the bottom a bit, but a good start.

I'll get the back end finished next and then start on the other door.

With a bit of luck I'll get the welding and body finished in the week and then on Saturday do the mechanicals and brakes.  Still a lot to do, but getting there!!

Still at it!!

The back end welding is done and the brakes have now been overhauled, we had a delivery as well..

10514544_10153123571004119_2007358324460

Onto skinning the other door, we had one 'good' door and one 'bad door'

This is the 'good' one..

10533449_10153121575389119_3575542043547

10350514_10153121575739119_6701021951493

Yup, the good one was worse than the bad one..

10462712_10153121575869119_3701151544505

A hasty rethink meant that the bad door was now the base to be used..

10441973_10153121576454119_6006515688152

Few repairs

10436666_10153121576684119_2862247896912

10500525_10153121576809119_3358254683999

This door had a new bottom as well.
