Really LOL!

What did you ask for?
When I went in I just asked for an upgraded alt that's a direct fit for a MPi Mini. That was pretty much all I said. a friend has also got an upgraded exchange alt for his mini, he did it all over the phone.

There is no model number printed on your unit? That is what they are asking for.

Can you take a close up shot of the unit and I'll send it over to them? They might be able to tell.

I'm still trying to figure this one out. Does anyone know what the model is for a 120 amp Land Rover alternator?

YLE000090 or YLE500090 is that the number they'd use?

A little late to the party but here's my input.

Your amp wont be pulling 40-60 amps all the time only when you have it turned right up. The A127 alternator comes in various sizes 45Amp for older mini's, the SPi alternator is a 70A version, you can also get 95A, 100A & 120A versions ( Example Example 2).

Many moons ago I researched this same thing & talked directly to a technician from their Denmark offices & he told me the casing & windings are the same it's only the regulator that is different. So definitely changing from a 45A to 75A is easy but you'd need to research more about if you can upgrade the regulator to a 120A version as I think they might be slightly different.

The other thing you will have to consider is making up brackets for the new alternator to fit as the mounting points will probably be different, also the wiring might be different too. Here's a 120 A version http://www.cliffords...0Amp-Alternator
