For the detailers-

Im a big detailer, love detailing soooo much!

But never detailed my mini? sounds stupid I know.. I got into detailing as I put my mini off the road and only detailed My dads Alfa Romeo GT which has the nicest metallic I've ever seen, my Daily car and a few friends cars...

I use Juicy details/auto finesse/ 50 cal detailing etc.. I just wanted to see what products mini lovers use?

I want to find a degreaser that is safe for under the engine bay, arches and some parts off the body work without damaging my paint!

also my mini is swirl crazy at the mo, I have a 95 mini sprite.. anyone recommend a compound polish to cut into the paint and get the swirls and light scratches out?

Cheers-Pel

I know! it makes my OCD level go through the roof.. don't even use a grit guard ever :(!!!!! im just not familiar with the classic strength/durability with a mini so wanted to get a rough idea on APC levels.. obviously all my equipment I use is PH neutral, but better to be safe then sorry!

You have said this a couple of times around the forum now, I totally disagree.

its each to their own I suppose on cleaning methods! the sponges hold a lot off grit.. which over time lead to the swirl marks...  especially when you use the same sponge for areas like under your arch, lower half of the car where a lot off grime sits! the best way is really to use a soft mitt or a grit guard in the bucket

I like my car to look nice and clean, 'back to black' on the tyres, shampoo, and either Meguiars or Autoglym window cleaner. I don't fancy spending a lot of money on cleaning products to be honest. It's an endless cycle. :shy:  :D

indeed it is! but once you use wax and you see the different levels off shines you cant stop yourself from buying more!!!! its addictive!, my mini is my pride and I don't want to use one off the detailers product and risk harming my paint... watned to see if theres something for the classic paint on the market!

hahaa

When I paint corrected my 91 Mayfair I did the following:-

Decontamination using IronX.

Clay bar'd it.

Used my DAS PRO DA polisher with a white hexlogic pad and megs 205.

Sealed with collinite 915 wax.

That got rid of a lot of the swirls and scratches, but I didn't want to use a yellow pad and megs 105 first as I didn't want to risk striking through the paint.

I don't know personally, to be honest. By preference I would use 3m anti-hologram polish, with 3m pads, and a decent polisher and Meguiars shampoo. :highfive:

As always, the post is MY opinion.  I dont like inflicting scratches on my paintwork hence I dont use one bucket and a sponge, dragging crap along my paint :)

I was not advocating the use of using a bucket and sponge. I was commenting on you comment that "most mini owners", I think you will find it is the opposite.

As above, I wasn't supporting the use of a sponge. You don't need to preach to the converted.  :shades:
