That doesn't look nitro look like proper fuel lol. Brushless lipo stuff can demolish nitro now anyways not worth the mess and the hastle.

That maybe true, but then a modern mini is better in performance, handling, reliability, safety etc, over a classic. But I know witch I'd prefer to own and drive. One of my r/c electric cars still has, a 3 step speed controller for pure retroness.

Yeah true enough I like tamiya stuff anyways so performance isn't high on the agenda. I'm currently building a wheelie farm king which is ridiculous

What was supposed to be a cheap 'toy' is starting to get expensive. What with a full bearing kit, new front uprights, 12mm hexes and washers, new buggy sized wheels and tyres, adjuster ends and m3 threaded rods to make up adjustable steering links and second body and driver. I've still got to paint the body when I get round to buying a cheap can of black spray paint. Then next on the list is a full set of oil shocks and hotter motor. I don't think I can go too mad though with the stock esc, but then with the buggy sized wheels it already wheelies (and back flips) from a standstill with the kit motor.

Not bad for a £1.50 rattle can paint job. Although some parts that should be gunmetal grey stickers round the rear body post I've chose to hand paint instead, as I think it will be easier to touch up and neater than a torn up pealing sticker.

Looks awesome wouldn't go too hot with a motor on it I put a brushless combo in mine and it was undrivable. Nice 20 turn would go well. Perhaps a 17t with those wheels.

I don't think I can go any lower than 25turns with the tamiya ESC. I had been looking at the hpi 20t, but nowhere seams to have any stock of hoi bits at the mo.
Although one thing that isn't in the manual is the other pinion option, although the kit 17t pinion is a little on the large side.

I have had a 20t hpi Saturn motor in one of mine and it was a good match. That was on a non tamiya esc though.

Living in the stone age. You need one of these.

What the car or just the charger?! Always wanted a nitro one!

Unless it's something that size

I beat multiple Lipo battery/brushless motor powered RC planes at Tyldsley model flying club a few weeks ago in competitions so don't count them out yet.

I may not have won any of the competitions but I repeatedly came mid table amongst loads of electric powered aircraft with my IC powered one. I was the best performing out of my club in the all up last down competition. I had a bit of an advantage as I didn't have to worry about the BEC cutting in. I just kept going until I ran out of fuel and then continued to glide down for the next couple of minutes. I came 8th out of 21 competitors in that competition and came 9th overall at the end of the day.

Not bad for an IC plane that is 13 years old.

Here's my newest car, I've had the Tamiya M03 Mini chassis for years but have entered this years Iconic Cup (Racing series for pre 2000 Tamiya on road cars) in the M class category.

Chassis is a standard M03 with the addition of a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor, 3racing shocks, front cvd's, toe in rear uprights and is fully ballraced. Also added some carbon effect vinyl wrap for that racing look bling :D

Body is replica of Tamiya's iconic 80's Willys Wheeler Honda City Turbo, it's made by ABC Hobby who make some great retro body shells for M class and touring car chassis'. Decals are a mixture of the supplied ABC ones and modified Tamiya re release Willys Wheeler.

Loving the MO3 (never was a fan of the M05) Although some parts from the M05 that I would recommend fitting (if allowed) are...

51393 - F parts upright. Witch once fitted completely rid the font of any bump steer and the rear hubs have 2 degrees of toe in. You do also have to use 50579 3x10mm step screws / king pins.

Also if you go for the 51425 - RA T parts uprights. Meant for the rally M05, you can raze the ride height just by using different holes in the hubs and uprights.

And the other M05 parts are 51390 - B parts steering wiper. The battery holders of witch just screw straight on with some 3x20mm machine screws and washers.

I've also finished off my mad bull, Full bearings, heat shrink steering rod and bottom arms, adjustable steering rods (using Tamiya parts) and abisma shocks. I just have to wait for the kids to sod off back to school, so I can go off and have a bit of a play at the local gravel bmx track.

Mad Bull looks great, I've been thinking of getting one myself for my daughter to bash about.

Can't use any of the M05 parts on the M03 as it's against the race regulations. Only things allowed are parts that would have been available pre 2000. I may see about getting some M03 alloy uprights and c hubs

Fair enough. Although out of the 3 M03's I have. One completely standard (other than bearings) with mechanical speed controller. Another with all oil shocks, hollow shafts (don't do anything but had them at time of build) front and rear antiroll bars and m05 bits bolted to it with a 20t brushed motor. And a complete basher with nothing more than a esc, bearings and a rather tired silver can motor, Its the standard bashed one that always gets the most use and abuse.

The mad bull has grown on me since buying and building it. I'll admit when it first came out back around 97-98 ish I was more into on road nitro and then off road nitro buggies and turned my nose up at anything electric. As the cost of the batteries, typically around 14 to 1600 and lasted all of 10 minuets, motors and esc's to replace the mechanical ones supplied with just about every kit was far more expensive than just some aa's and fuel. And with some of the reviews being slightly unkind towards the mad bull about the sloppy steering an pogo sticks, I was still sceptical. But the steering mods and dampers have sorted out those two issues.

And working it out that mad bull (not including the buggy wheels and tyres) has cost me £115 in total including the radio, bearings, steering mods and shocks.

Talking of the M03's, Would anyone happen to have a set (or a pair) of M03 body posts? To save me having to buy a complete pack with all the suspension arm parts and stuff. As annoyingly mine have been cut one hole too short.

Also having just had a look at the manuals online, the rears for the M05 are the same as the M03's, but the fronts aren't.
