The front subby is now bare. What a mission! The driver's side rubber cone had so much dirt and rubbish inside it that I couldn't get the compressor tool screwed in. Eventually got it out.

Hi-Los, yes. 4 pots, no. The calipers will be redone like I did for the Mk3. New discs etc.

The rear frame is almost completely free of grease and grime. There is so much sand - in all the cavities!

Do you keep popping down to the beach at Margate? I was born just down the coast from there.

Oh, hang on wrong Margate.

You going to fit stainless brake pistons or just normal ones?

This is more 'middle of nowhere' sand than beach sand - even stones are coming out.

Yes, will be fitting stainless pistons.

I realise the updates seem pointless, but I do it to keep a record of exactly when things were done, even if they're small jobs.

Finally managed to get the hubs dismantled completely today. Knocked the bearing races out; got the balljoints off and removed the steering arms :

Made a start on the lower suspension arms as well. Filed away the rough edges from the casting.

Also, I had a look at the upper suspension arms and might need to replace the LHS one due to excessive wear from the knuckle going through the nylon cup.

The hubs and lower arms are now clean :

Time to do a little work by hand and then some paint to go on.

You call that clean? -Must be the thin air at that altitude affecting your brain.

Now do it properly before i get the whip out :trooper:

Warm temperatures!.... you lucky so & so. In the UK if you left ANY trace of rust it would be as bad as before (or worse) after a year.

Clean is considered grease free  Nah, I still have to do some work by hand before I lay any paint on there.

If I remember to do it, I'll take the shock mounts off tomorrow and show you how lucky I really am.
