Sorted out the hole in the quarter

2xWoWZ6.jpg

And then spent the best part of a week on and off having fun with the sunroof....

As you can see, years of repeated repairs to stop leaks has left it quite interesting

So out it came

Some repairs took place

I ended up replacing most of the outer edges of the frame and all four drain points but it came together ok in the end

And then back in the car after rust removing/treating the inside of the roof skin

Just needs the frame welding back in and the inside of the roof sealing and painting now and it's done.

I would hesitate to do another one. That was over 20 hours work...

Cheers

Ben

Well after endless small repairs to rust holes that were all well hidden behind fibreglass, filler and stonechip all the way around the bottom of the car, it's now in primer :-)

All ready to go

And done.

All ready now for flatting, sealing, stonechipping and then top coat.

Cheers

Engine bay sealed up, stonechip applied to inner wings and front end/engine bay sprayed.

And Then i fitted the wings so that i could mask up the sills for stonechipping.

I have also flatted the primer on about 70% of the shell

Cheers Rich. Glad you like it.

Colin is off this week so i might paint it myself if it is ready for Friday. If not, ill get him to paint it Monday so we should be mostly back together by the end of next week.

What time is good for you in the morning?

Cheers

Ben

Going to the Surrey on the 29th to pick up the next restoration which will be another Mini.

I will be doing a full build thread for it if anyone is interested. Our customer is going for a track day toy so should be an interesting one.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Rich.

The prep work is virtually complete, the sills etc are stonechipped and i have stated building up the engine bay.

It will be in paint next week. I do have pictures but i think (hope) i left my camera behind.

Ill upload on Monday.

Cheers

Nothing too exciting happening the past few days. I have mainly been prepping and repairing the doors, bonnet and tailgate which needed quite alot of attention.

The bonnet was vert ripply and the doors had a lot of rust in the frames where the rubber pushes into the channels.

TleIiax.jpg

All sorted now though and the rest of the body prep is complete.

Before painting the shell, i needed to respray the inside of the boot and all of the exposed metal inside the car. This too needed a lot of prep due to a combination of scrapes and scratches and the fact that whoever painted in there before didn't prep anything so the paint was chipping and flaking .

After hours of prep, i had it in primer

30qS5oW.jpg

Qp1Ace8.jpg

And then finally in paint.

J9kzsoi.jpg

J2Dy4l2.jpg

i am looking at painting the shell tomorrow or Thursday depending on how long i need to do the final finishing touches to the prep.

Cheers

Ben
