After a year long search for a suitable Jackson racing supercharger, without paying the earth or being robbed!!!the search is over.
Picking it up next week and booked
a rolling road session for the 15th Jun can't get it booked in any earlier, thought it could be all done in time for the 2016 Thistle Run.
Not sure what power it will make so will keep you updated in the coming weeks.

BROKEN WELDS, giving the car a once over before the charity run on Sunday and found the top suspension mounting weld cracked as you can see from the picture, the other side is opening up as well, appointment with the welding doctor tomorrow at 11am.

The car has only completed 2500 road miles so a wee bit disappointed in the quality of the welding, so check your weld's!!!!!!!

Christ thats pretty shocking! Bit concerning considering the low mileage of the kit. What's more worrying is that if the quality of workmanship is similar throughout the frame you are more than likely going to experience cracks propagating in the welds elsewhere which may not be picked up. Could make for a very serious situation!

Whats the script with this sort of issue now that the z-cars saga has happened?

Thats the rear suspension right?

From the picture it looks like you have one of the early frames. In the newer ones this issue has been solved drilling a hole in the main frame tube, inserting the shock mount all the way into it and then welding on both sides. Will post a pic tomorrow.

by the way good luck with the repair, should be a fairly easy job!

Doesn't look like too much work to bring it in line with the revised version. Just chop out those members running from the main hoop back and have them made up again with the additional insert welded through the tube.

Still a pretty piss poor design though having the coilovers mounted in single shear. I'd be inclined to revise the layout, if there's enough room, while you're addressing the problematic welds.

Thanks for the link andream 88 and your comments KaneH.

After cleaning up around the weld's to day I could see how close I was to loosing the left hand suspension mount, the other side had started to crack but still held in place.

Due to lack of time with the charity run on Sunday I have gone for the quick fix to day and will deal with it in the winter down time.

The good news is the welder donated his fee to the Charity run.

That is one of the benefits of having the removable rear end, easy access. Glad to hear you got it sorted even if its only a temporary fix, I'm gonna give mine a good look over on the weekend as I've got a track day on Monday at Goodwood.
