sorry but your talking out your arse, there are decent gains to be had with pretty basic head mods, which will yeild better drivability, and power... and by power that can mean the same power on less boost which is desirable a it means your doing less work /making less heat to make the power.

in terms of head work, you'll be looking at decreasing the compression anyway, so it makes sense to go over the head and do the basics not to mention the extra heat going in there, so personally I'd be looking at stainless valves.

All things being equal any improvement to flow means more charge in the cylinders and a bigger bang. If the port is restrictive its’s restrictive, there’s no getting around that fact. Just because it’s under pressure the restriction still exists. This will cause a pressure drop meaning more boost is required to make the same power. A decent flowing head will allow the engine to make more power on the same boost or the same power on less boost. Often running more boost doesn’t yield the gains you expect as the turbo becomes less efficient. Improving the exhaust side of the head will help reduce cylinder contamination/dilution of the incoming charge and reduce the chances of detonation occurring.
Improved flow through the head can improve off boost performance through better VE, better off boost torque and faster spool anybody ??
The 5port A-series head is particularly restrictive so there are big gains to be had, but even modern heads can almost always be improved upon. Done properly a modified head is a win win.

Phil.

Did you get a grey clutch cover sorted?
I have a grey and a double grey on my parts shelf I'm probably not going to use. Also have a kad flywheel and med clutch arm kit...

I've decided to give the RTS clutch a go. Just focusing on getting the head, diff, and gearbox sorted for now. Thanks for the offer though. :highfive:

Just got a few bits delivered today.

2 Verto AP clutch covers. (RTS)

AP Racing organic plate.

11 Blade fan

Mini Spares verto flywheel.

Clutch casing bolt kit.

It's not a huge leap forward, but It's a step in the right direction. Still waiting to receive the cylinder head from Turbo Phil, due to Mini Spares not having the valve guides in stock. :( Next big purchase will be the Quaife ATB diff, and Mini Spares HD helical gears.

I'll be sending the clutch off to be converted into a RTS, also needs balancing.

Why don't you give it a go yourself?

I might give it a go, but it needs balancing either way.

Yes you'll need to get it balanced. There's a guide to do the RTS clutch online.

More work on the mini over Easter. :) I don't remember the drivers door being so heavy. :/ Should be getting the cylinder head in the next few weeks, after ordering valve guides from Swiftune.
