Hi all,

 

My MPI that I put back together won't fire up, it's trying to, but just won't catch and run.

 

What can I test and how ?

 

I've checked that each plug has a spark, that's OK.

 

The HT leads are on the correct way, 1. 2. 3. 4. clockwise. 1 being water pump side.

 

The 2 spark plugs on the right were damp with fuel, the 2 on the left were not !

 

Does anyone know how to check to see if power is getting to the injector ? with a LED ?? 

 

If all is well there, how do I check that the injector is opening ?

 

How do I check that petrol is getting up to pressure ?

 

Any other ideas, help, solutions ????

Got a good earth? MPi's love a good earth, usually adding a second one helps. Do you  have access to an ACR4? This will really help with diagnostics, a really handy tool for an MPi owner.

What's an ACR4 ?

The diagnostic software for MEMS. Do you have a dizzy or a coil block?

A bit too expensive for me that tool.

 

Any other ideas for testing ?

So, a bit of progress. It turned out the left injector was stuck closed, I took it all apart and freed it off with a hammer and a 9 volt battery.

Now the engine kind of starts for a split second, and sometimes runs badly for about a second then stops, sometimes with a little backfire through the inlet body.

 

Any ideas ?
