Hi,
I am about to fit a new rear subframe, just wondering if it is better to fully assemble all the suspension first, or fit the subframe and then rebuild on the car. I am fitting HiLos and rear camber brackets as part of the rebuild.

It depends what you have to work with really, but generally, I'd be saying it'll be easier to build on the bench and then fit whole to the car.

It'll come down to if you have a suitable means of rolling it under the car and then lifting it up once under there.

I have a jacking trolley - it's ACE for fitting subrames.

I'll buck the trend and say I always fit them bare, then build them up in situ!  The radius arms etc add a lot of extra weight, they crash about unless you tie them up well and makes the whole thing quite awkward to handle in my opinion.

I'm sure you'll be fitting a new frame with nice threads and and clean surfaces, so fitting it up when it's in place is a joy, in my opinion!

if on you own then bare as it is easier to work with.

Im just about to hit the same task, I have opted for bare then add radius arms after etc.

One question i have is....  just tried test fitting the rear subframe to check holes align etc before painting, they do....    ...nearly. Due to having new Poly bushes there isnt much give on them to get the last few mm to get the bolt holes to align with the heel board. any ides on how to pull it in about 3-4mm to align? is it just heat the bushes gently to soften them? or is there any other good tips?

thanks in advance

Mark

i fit the front first then with an awl or old screw driver work the rears into place. oh leaving the front loose until all bolts are started.
