I bypassed mine, you need to join the blue/red and blue/brown wires that go to the pink relay under the dash. You can either use a loop wire through the relay to join the two pins or if you don't mind cutting your loom cut the relay off and join the two wires. I used the loop wire first to check it worked then cut and soldered the wires together. Have passed MOT's since.

Just unplug resistor by wiper motor. Worked on my 92 sprite

You don't need the dim-dip.  I removed mine, though I largely rewired the car so i can't tell you the easiest way to bypass it.

I removed it because it's another thing to go wrong and it's completely unnecessary. If you think you need to drive on side-lights, just put your headlights on as that'll be even safer.  I drive with my headlights on all the time in all my cars because it makes it easier for people at side junctions to judge your speed and decide not to pull out on you.  I think the safety benefits of driving with your headlights on applies especially to the Mini which is much easier to miss with a quick glance due to it's size.

So, if you never have your sidelights on, the dim-dip never does anything, unless it fails.

Bypass it by unplugging the resistor

Hi,

Every manufacturer fitted dim dip to their vehicles in preparation for up coming legislation, then it never happened.

At the next major update the manufacturer removed them.

So theres no requirement to have it fitted or working.

Cheers  :proud:

I'll be rewiring the car and would like to get rid. Bit don't want unused connectors flapping about. Want to know if I just remove the wires to the resistor at source.

Does just unplugging it stop the side lights coming on. Surely I still need to keep circuit?

Side lights etc still operate as usual, they're actually brighter with the relay disconnected or bypassed

There's a relay behind the dash, big red/pink thing.  Then there's a resistor in the engine bay.

I don't know, but I can't imagine just unplugging the relay is enough.

Sorry that should have read

Side lights etc will still work as usual with the resistor unplugged (black two pin connector above the resistor) or with the relay and resistor bypassed completely by joining two wires which connect to the relay under the dash
