when you next tax it, it should be auto exempt of tax and mot, I don't think you have to change it on the V5 for this to happen.

Might be wise to treat this as a .......... "Yess SIR,  No SIR.  Three bags full SIR,  Any thing you say SIR............You know best SIR, Mr. DVLA"

I had this exact problem. Need to go online and print off the form send off with log book and they will change. (You will have to look through my last few posts to see exactly what form number it is) They will then rebate you any tax you paid. Do not waste your time going to the post office like the DVLA says i went to 3 and none helped or had the right paper work.

I would put the three forms (MOT Exemption/ Tax Exemption/ V5) all together in an envelope and send that. If you feel you need a cover letter then you can but i just filled out the forms and put historic on my V5. Then they sent it back.

At mine they scanned something on the v5 and the system guided them through the rest. Maybe I just got lucky with who processed it. Good luck!
