Broke engine mount
Engine out!
I'm amazed at the condition of this original exhaust manifold is. It's very solid and the welds are as good as ever.
With the broken engine mount I would say the clutch is probably good but I think maybe I should change it whilst it's out. Hopefully that rules out a bearing failure too. The oil pressure was bang on. I've also got some bmc green paint coming.
One grotty engine bay that needs sprucing up....
One original 998cc cooper engine (except the later rockers)...
One drive coupling that's seen better days...
Anyone fancy some syrup? It's actually as thick. It took ages to drain out...
On to tomorrow....

That manifold is going then ? do you reckon it's from a morris minor of something? The exhaust manifold is not original Cooper one, but main thing it’s design is not the best, I fitted a free flow maniflow to mine along with twin box rc40. Original manifold is pressed steel with external seams on pipes. Engine mounting well past it though, it’s good when it’s an easy fix.

Looks like a budget aftermarket one to me due to how pipes are joined

I had the same happen and tapped new bigger threads.I used metric as the local bolt supplier only stocks metric.I had to file bigger the holes in the puller.I may have just committed a sin using metric on a Mini.Steve..

Lovely project, looks to be in really good condition. What's the interior like?

Only the end of the bolt which is in the crank buffer as per instructions in the kit. I will release and grease now and see if it helps. Cheers for thatHave you greased the bolt thread on the puller? It looks pretty dry in the photo.

Looking good, if you haven’t already got them use the qh type nylon needle roller type driveshaft couplings when you refit engine rather than the rubber ones.
