Buy cheap, buy twice (or even thrice!).

My case this year. Not anymore...

I learnt the hard way, a minispares rear wheel bearing done around 500miles and seized solid when I was going 60 MPH, Got away with it quite lightly in the grand schemes of things just a knackered tyre, radius arm and hub.

InnoCooperExport website comes up as unsafe with my virus protection ?? so didn't view website

Oh that´s very strange, mine doesn´t complain at all. Website even has a valid security certificate. I´ve bought a big tub of Timken grease from them last year with no issues at all.

Just an update here. Minispares was able to offer a refund for the failed bearings. Timkens ordered and on the way!

Could some of the bearing issues being reported have to do with improper torque on the hub nut? The Haynes manual states 60 ft-lbs for the rear hub nut....but hte book also mention both ball and taper rollers are used on the various model years. Surely ball sets must use a different torque than rollers?

Not really as the torque set the running clearance. Can have the same torque setting just not quite made the same.

but not all bearings are made the same and after being supplied with none Timken Rear roller bearings they are set differently. That is to say not torqued as per the original settings.

Just buy Timken :-)

You can get lucky with the cheaper ones, there are a lot of alternatives around, i have used them with different success.

Just think about it when you are stuck next to the road, why not spend a litte bit more, and just drive along?

Installation errors do account for some failures for sure, but you can be reasonably sure, when so many say much the same about a particular product then use a different product without issue, it tells a story. Likewise, if the failure is odd, then there's a reasonable chance it could be due to an installation error.

Apart from offering a refund, I bet Minispares should have received enough complaints to stop selling this dangerous crap, no matter the cheap they are.

No, I don't, unfortunately. Try Simpy Bearings https://simplybearin...s/c1/index.html

I recently bought Timken steering head taper rollers, for my Laverda, from them.
