Hi all,

After an offer came up I couldn't refuse, i finally picked up a Van! For those of you that remember the Magnetagz van, then yep, this is where it is now! It's a bit rough around the edges, needs some panels re-alligning and some rust catered for, but overall, it's in great condition! Plan is to keep it the same colour overall, however the roof will be sprayed black once the LED lights come off. Lots of wiring inside that is irrelevant and some that needs tidying up!

On the drive home it absolutely tipped it down, but enjoyed every minute of it! Its the first Mini i've owned on 10s and love the ride! I'll keep this up to date where i can, but i intend to document it on my youtube channel mainly!

Didn't i read somewhere that you already have a Mini you're meant to be working on? :P

Finish that one before you start ripping into this one, you know you're a perfectionist & if you even start to touch this you'll end up with 2 Minis neither of which you can drive for some time.

Spent all yesterday on the car. Stripped the rear out and managed to remove miles of spare wiring. The washer pump now works and i have headlight flast! Removed all the sound deadening, gave it a full clean and put on a set of white wall trims :shades:

Looks great Steve!! I do love a van. Wish I'd bought one before the prices went a bit nuts.

I expect you're going to lose those roof lights, and maybe the side repeaters too? Clean/classic look, or do you have something else planned?

Thanks chap!

The roof lights are gone.. updates to come! Keeping the side repeaters as I actually quite like them :shifty:

Fair bit of an update!

Gave the Van a machine polish and replaced the roof lights for nice little grommets (temporary)

Really pleased with the shine

THEN the wheels decided to eject the trims off at speed, so finally ditched them and tried my hand at Mr Whitewheels paint

Can't forget the other car!

...and it came off :(

So took the plunge to have the wheels powdercoated and taken directly to Mr Whitewheels in Stafford and Ant there did a cracking job!!

I then had an overheating issue. After pulling the head apart it had melted a valve and the seat was cracked. Its what happens when you run a leaded head on unleaded. Engine got super hot and took the crappy headgasket too. What I also found was the bypass valve was blocked.

Thanks to Adam Campion of youtube fame for a replacement, unleaded!, cylinder head! On with a composite gasket.

Looking good, nasty head crack though! Have you driven it since installing the sound deadening? What is the bracket on the rear floor for, is that for the jack?

Yep, as my late father used to say, if you're going to break it, do it in style! I have, it has moved the higher frequencies into the mid range where the closed cell foam will get it more efficiently. The bracket is for the wheel brace for the spare wheel mounts to.
