Just had this done on molly by the garage. Apparantly they had a very hard time getting the hubs out, and this guys a proper mechanic, not just a guy who can plug in a lappy. They almost had to take the driveshafts out via the gearbox :( . So yeah, not to easy atall, plus I think you'll need a bearing puller. Cost me £85 inc parts and labor for that and handbrake adjustment.

Oh, £85 isnt too bad. I was expecting it to be a bit more than that. If its that cheap then i may consider taking it to a garage then...

Just replaed them on my 91 city

There a doddle. Just make sure you have a good ball joint seperator, and something suitable to drift the outer races of the earings from the hubs :( Remember to torque the castle nut up properly too!

Worst part is getting the hub nut undone - that can be a right bar steward! Take the wheel off, remove the split pin then put the wheel back on (if it's a steel one - use the spare if you've got alloys - the hole in the middle is bigger to get the socket through) put the car on the ground, in gear and handbrake on, then use a long breaker bar to crack the nut if need be. Turn the steering slightly to avoid mashing your wing or wheelarches. Other than that you only need a good ball joint splitter - scissor type rather than the bludgeoning fork one - and a torque wrench to make sure of the correct torques on reassembly. When you drift the new bearing races in, use the old one ad a drift rather than hammering on the new bearing.

I had to replace my wheel bearings, paid £40 for the set, ended finding out i need to replace new disc, pads, one caliper was seized up, but the bearings where the easy part, gave the hub to a mate in a garage to use a compressor and he never needed to use it.

1 5/16" socket, you won't need new balls but you might hole the rubbers - you can buy them for pence

This is what you need to do the hub nut:

That bar locks it against the floor, so you can undo it without having an assistant standing on the brakes. Very very simple to make as well.
