The MX5 and Porsche tombstone are nice in proportion in a mini, slim on the seat back so still gives impression of space in the cabin.

I have seats out of an 88 or 89 Honda CRX .. they work relatively well. I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a set of 1991 Honda Prelude Si seats as they are equally narrow with good bolsters AND lumbar support

I drive a 5th gen Prelude as my daily driver, and have to agree, they are fantastic seats! Very similar in shape to the classic Recaro LX/LS which a few members have successfully fitted.

I'd think they'd work well, I found the seats in my VX220 very comfortable, I did over 34,500 miles in 13 months in mine!

To anyone who's fitted the Alfa GTV front seats, did you make up a completely custom subframe? Or would something like an off-the-shelf Cobra locking subframe be usable (perhaps with some minor tweaks)? I'm eyeing up a set of the GTV seats for my daily driven '91 mini but I don't really have the tools or capability to make my own frames. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

What do you have to get the MX5 seats to fit?

Is it a custom subframe?

It is a custom frame, just made by welding some bars front and rear across the Mazda seat slider rails to turn them into a solid base. Then add some rear feet and brackets at the front to mount to the stock seat brackets on the crossmember. They swing up at the front just like the stock seats.
