Bump for this, thought about mine the other day.

I want a new RC car, I havn't used mine in around a year, and that was only around the garden once.

I want a 2wd buggy, im thinking HPI rush.

I've got a Kyosho sandmaster which I love, but can't get spares for it.

I want something reliable and indestructable, any recomendations. I've been out of the RC scene for years.

A great Model Thread its taken some time to read it all.
I have a Tamiya Boomerang i keep it on display because its so old and in good condition.
Had an electric Racing Shumacher wasted loads on it.Mainly the electronic controllers at about £140 a go.
Been very happy with my Nitro Traxas Jatto.Drives and stops well.Very Fast it Leaves real cars standing and a crazy top end if your brave.I would recommend Traxas Models above.Very well made also a fair cost. They have electric starter to make life easy getting going. :gimme:

Can i just ask why a 2WD buggy? they never quite go where you want them to, especially the more powerful ones.
They dont actually make the rush any more, its been replaced by the firestorm which is meant to be pretty good, but ive never used one.

I would really recomend something like the hyper 7, 8 or 8.5 buggy, or even a truggy if you can afford it, they really are worth the extra money imo.

Yes above they sound like very good models to own. With my Traxas Jatto i put a lot of thought into cost before Buying it.You are spot on about 2WD i drive mine slow only go fast in open spaces so i do not crash it. you can fit the wheeley Bar on that model to learn with.We have a lack of Nitro Shops in Solihull area i have to go to Bham.

I just like the raw simplicity of them.
Im also thinking second hand aswell, so not bothered if they don't make them anymore as long as theres spares available for a while.

I used to race hyper 7 TQ sport they are one of the best for the money entry level 4wd grass track buggys.

If your starting off words of advice,
-You will spend more than intednded
-you will break the standerd equiptmnet radio gear i.e servos ect.
-you will break pull starts - investin starter box or roto/drill start
-you will need differnet tyres
-you will mostliky invest in a new transmitter probly stick type rather than wheel gun things
- you will crash it brake it and repair it constanly they are littel money pits
join a club i used to race every sunday was realy fun my local club was this place
http://www.prcc.co.uk/

Im not on the leader borads no more as not been for a cupple of years, but at one point i was pritty good.

Heres a few pics of the site of my buggy me drivein/crashing, had some better ones but my p.c been formated since.

Wow! I just read the whole thread. I guess RC cars have moved on quite abit since the thread began though. I used to race 1/10th scale touring on indoor carpet. At the same place where the former RC touring car champion Andy Moore races. I would hate to think how much I have spent on my 2 rc cars over the years. My 1st car was a tamiya TT-01 with rather alot of hop ups and then went on the buy a schumacher mission which used to be a dream to drive - setup perfectly. Although the only surviving model shop (cbmodels) in derby has just closed down. I'll get a picture of the cars up tommorow. :D

I think loads of model shops are dieing a death because of online shops, its so much easyer and abit cheaper to buy parts and models online.

The only thing most people i know go to shops for is fuel, it is starting to become a pain to find my local sells out as soon as they get the stuff in.

mini_mad69, are you wanting electric or nitro? I'm assuming nitro since you suggested a Rush. I don't think 2wd nitro buggys are very popular, you'd be better of looking for a 2wd stadium truck (wider tyres on the front and usually a wider track, otherwise pretty much a buggy). Have to reccomend HPI's stuff, the build quality of HPI products is far above companies like Traxxas in my opinion.

Something like this:

http://www.hpieurope...t...511&lang=en

If you're not racing it though, get a bashing truck like a Savage :shifty:.

This reminds me that I need to spend some cash and fix my Savage.

I took it to an old disused quarry which was excellent fun! However, approaching one of the jumps, there was a bit of a bump before hand, so instead of going up the jump at full whack, I hit the bump and the car smacked in to the jump top down and went spinning through the air.

It's lost some screws (I could do with replacing the tranny casing as most of the threads have had it) and I'm relatively certain I've bent the TVP's.

Can't reccomend the Savage enough though, I must have had mine 6 years now and it's a really tough bit of kit. It's coming close to needing a full rebuild, but after 6 years, what do you expect. It might just be cheaper for me to buy another.

Yeah a stadium truck would be good. I just want something that will last, I had a kyosho alpha ten, that broke every time I used it.

I want to be able to arrive start it, thrash it around for an hour or so and then go home.

That's why I was looking at the rush, just looks a nice simple rugged little thing.
