Not much progress this week at all due to licensed premises commitments ( >_< )
I've cut some underlay for the front arches, I plan to put two layers of underlay on them if they stick well, to absorb some of the noise & vibration from the wheels. I'm also going to put a minimum of two layers of underlay in the front footwells, for obvious reasons. Depending how it goes, I hope to have the stereo in tomorrow ;D all the wiring is there now, it's just a matter of putting the time and effort in... can't install the stereo till the centre console is in though and I can't put that in 'till the carpets are fitted.
Going to a Mini meet on saturday  and also one on Tuesday which should be good.
I have tomorrow off so may nip up to Minispares providing they have tyres in stock >_< I'll have to give them a ring in the morning.

Oh I got delivery of some black faux leather vinyl today, to cover the speaker pods for the front. There's a wee bit more than I need!

Small update... today I did this:

Covered the speaker pods and cut out underlay for the front floors

Rear of speaker pods:

Quite impressed  called up to Minispares to get a couple of tyres... asked and paid for Falken 145 R 10's (£21 each).. and they gave me some Yokohama A008 (I think?) 165R10s... silly me went back and got them swapped for the ones I asked for, apparently the Yoko's are worth £50 each! Ah well

And tomorrow my good friend at the Ferarri garage is going to fit them on the front and balance/track them for me :ermm:

Problems problems problems... >:( >:( >:(

Went to the garage today to get the tyres fitted. Turns out the machine couldn't take the wheels 'because they were too small :) so had to go to Alba tyres who fitted and balanced them. Had one on the passenger side front, and one on the driver side rear - replaced the two Camac's which I believe are made from recycled bin liners :errr: . Two of the wheel nuts were buggered, so luckily the guy at Alba had two spares which he put on.

Drove to Dan's and spent a while fitting the bonnet straps - which are now on :) and functional after a lot of "fun"...

Then realised that the passenger side rear tyre is dangerous >:( it's cracked so badly along the edge, you can push a finger/thumb into it a good few millimetres.

Coupled with the clutch slave cylinder - the fact that it's leaking fluid and has been for a few hundred miles - I have now declared Evelyn off the road until I get a new tyre fitted to the back, and the new slave cylinder done. She's driveable, but I don't want to risk the expense, and inconvenience, of breaking down somewhere. Luckily she isn't a daily drive.

I think I'll spend tomorrow swearing a lot, and fitting the front carpets and possibly getting the stereo in.

ohhhh bugger! :)

shouldn't be too bad... just take the wheel down to the shop and they can do that for you... clutch slave, i've no idea about, sorry! :(

Good to take the opportunity to do other stuff though :(

Got the seats in yet? :(

Yeah it would be ok to take the wheel down to a shop if I had a spare to put on and I had a proper car jack and the tools to take the wheel off But I dont, don't and dont. :)

Clutch slave I'm getting Steve to do it for me, I know what it entails but have never done it before, and to be honest, I want it done properly because have a big journey coming up in a couple of weeks.

I hope Alba can order in the tyre for me this week, because I have no other means to drive to Minispares and don't fancy paying postage on a tyre.

No I haven't fitted the seats yet, I need to get the carpets in the front first, and my stereo and stuff in, so I can clear the whole car out, and will not have oil stained parts muckying the new seats.
The cat has been using the back of one of the front seats as a scratching pad, if I catch it again I will stick it in the peeing OVEN.

Sunday Progress...

Firstly here's the new bonnet straps.. in two minds as to whether I like them or not but they're more a safety feature than anything else, seeing as though the safety catch is absent  :

Posted Image

And now onto the real progress :) I now have nice carpets in the front!!! :D
Two layers of underlay went in first, both on the arches and the floorpans, held together "as solid as a rock" by very strong double sided tape and extra strong carpet adhesive... I just hope I don't have to do any welding to the floors anytime soon because I'll be gutted after all this work!

Underlay:
Posted Image

Oh and I put the handbrake and gear stick gaitors on that I bought from Retro Retrims a looooong time ago! :dontgetit:
After the underlay was fitted, I decided to remove the seats, because they were in the way.
Passenger side footwell. Notice that right up underneath the dash there's a blue bit, well that's covered up now with carpet:

Passenger side inner sill:

Driver side footwell:

To say it's a £21 carpet set, it's actually quite good, considering it came with the inner sill strips and cross member strips. It's not perfect, but neither is ANY sort of carpet fitting that I do, in car or not! And I had to trim a couple of bits... cut my own hole out for the gearstick, and notches for the inner sill trim. Luckily I will be putting a centre console in, so that will cover up the gear stick area anyway.

So yes, quite a good, productive day today! Glad I bought myself a toolset the other week, else I'd be struggling with simple things like taking seats out, and taking out the seatbelt anchor bolts.

The seats are still out (well, they're in the car but not fitted) so the next thing for me to do is clear out the rubbish from the car (gazillions of metres of paper from double sided tape) - the back seats and parcel shelf are full of stuff. As soon as all that is out, I will go about wiring in the stereo while the seats are out. Once I have confirmed it's working, and isn't blowing fuses (should all be okay) I'll put in the centre console. And then the seats!
Although all this might have to wait till next weekend, and I may need to drive the car this week to get other problems sorted, so I'll just stick in the old drivers seat temporarily.

Oh I forgot to add, I put an illuminated blue switch in my centre console last night too, after MUCH drilling and messing about. I was going to have three in a row, and drilled pilot holes for them. But then decided as it was such a KUFFUFFLE getting the one to fit, I put something "nice" to cover the holes I'd drilled. If it comes to it I will just re-cover it though, have plenty of the black vinyl luckily.

Call it a symbol of solidarity with everyone else who's been victimised by the jumped-up little hitler's :dontgetit: ...

Here's what I mean by a KUFFUFFLE; the thread on the switch which is supposed to poke through where it's mounted to have a "cap" screwed on from the front (same with all toggle switches) wasn't half as long as the panel was wide. So I had to go trigger happy with the drill:
