The awsome 850 is ddying. I have a dodgey valve thats not seating properly. I think its an exhaust valve seat thats had it due to unleaded fuel in a leaded head, it makes a kind of air cooled whistle under power and sounds a cylinder down at idle.

Its been a while...
I was right about the valve, I had a split exhaust valve from using unleaded without any additive. Quick cure tho as I had a spare head (and engine, cheers champ) from Jimbo which had recently been skimmed, ideal for getting the excessivly low compression up a bit on the 850.
Since then I have had 2 different sets of wheels. The 13" Superlites that were on the car when I bought it were just too big for the little engine and they were killing the minimal power, so I swapped them with Mighty_Mini for his 10" deep dish Revo's and Cooper S brakes.
While I was fitting the S brakes, I replaced all the flexi hoses with new Goodrich braided ones and also changed the bushes on the front subframe for cometition ones and solid floor mounts.

After a few tyre problems, I decided to sell the Revo's and buy a new set of 6x10" Minilifes as they will go well with the retro theme that I'm going for this time.
Frogot to mention, while I did the brakes, I also fitted Hi-Lo's (thanks Prawn) and new GAZ lowerred height adjustable shocks too So she now sits nicely and rides firmly.

The MOT is due in the next week or so, so today I spent a bit of time doing the usual pre test checks, like fitting a horn as it didn't have one before, and adjusting the handbrake so I don't need to leave it in gear on hills lol, but I have a sneaking suspicion its going to fail. If it fails badly then its going to come off the road and have a re-build, if it passes then it will come off the road for a couple of new pannels and a change in colour...
Either way, it's coming off the road for a while as I've got some ideas for it - retro, with a twist... :cheese:
