Not being familiar with the SPI/MPI side of things, is it possible to re-seat the injectors easily? Seems odd that both of them would be "leaking" like that.

I think you can get new seals for them but not sure where from, it is strange but does look like there leaking doesn’t it ?Not being familiar with the SPI/MPI side of things, is it possible to re-seat the injectors easily? Seems odd that both of them would be "leaking" like that.

Completely agree that’s on my list to replace for sure ?? Any advice on gasket type it has a proper mpi one at present but obviously no good is there a thicker type ?You're thinking injector seals, but just infront is the manifold gasket.

It is very weird what happens when you push on it. It is known probleme area for bad connections, more cracked / broken wires in the wiring loom in the curve towards the bulkhead. the engine rocking forwards and backwards all the time breaks the internal wiring.

Get the engine running and this time don't touch the throttle potentiometer, but wiggle the wires going to it.

I can't see your injector seals beeing leaky. Even if they are, you have other problems.
Did you check the thickness of your exhaust manifold flanges ? and compare tem to the inlet manifold ones ? They should be identical.

Totally agree but does look like the injectors are leaking, I’ve checked the flanges and they look the same, I’ve had this before and had to make step washers to overcome but that was a different car, I’ve got some injector seals coming and a new turbo manifold gasket which looks thicker, then like you say I’ll wiggle the wires and check them for breaks or dodgy connections, it’s got to be on the electrics surely!! It’s crazy and so frustrating it really is, thank you thow for you’re help it’s really appreciated it really is ???

I ask because i went through hell trying to get mine started. Turns out someone had repaired the loom to the map sensor and got 2 wires crossed. Anything is possible

Has your wiring loom ever been repaired? Sensor wiring around the inlet manifold?

It’s funny you say that as this engine wiring loom isn’t the original one from the car I have that in the garage, annoyingly I only changed it as the old was grubby and this cane up on eBay cheap so I grabbed it, it does look good but what’s underneath I supose ?

Are we sure that it’s not the timing from when I replaced the clutch just to rule this out ? Personally I think it runs too well to be timing but maybe the experts can tell from my videos, I promise once I’ve tried and got the answers on this I’ll shut up about it ha ha!!! ?????

Ah, ok
Ive just had a read through that, in terms of air leaks the std manifold gaskets are pretty good sou should be fine with the std MPI one. just check the fastners are in good condidtion and are pulling the manifolds down effectivly, keep an eye for differenct height luga on the manifolds where the washers pull down although thats only normally an issue where after market manifolds have been used.
often when theres an air leak you'll actually be able to hear where the air is getting in, another trick is to go around the suspect area's with an unlit propane torch, when it suck in the gas you hear the idle smooth out. of course you doo need to be aware that loads of gas is a fire hazard, so use it sparingly! but its very useful for checking things like leaking throttle butterfly seals.
