hi all, here is my new project, its a 1980 clubman 1275 gt, I brought this about 2 months ago as a bare shell in need of much love and attention. For the last month and a half i've been collecting bits and bobs and i've managed to get some old bits like; original 1275 gt clocks, bumpers ,grill , 13"cosmic wheels, petrol tank, and new bits like adjusta ride suspension, kyb shocks, negative camber kit, poly bush kit, twin 40 weber carb set up, and a load of new panels.

Whoa! With that spec I might just steal it when you're done! ;)
You sure you're gonna be ready by August? I have to admire your ambition!

Looks like a great little project mate, you've gathered some lovely bits, although you may want to double check the engine spec.

the carb in your pic is a single weber, the only thing twin about it is that it had 2 chokes.

the engine is pretty unlikely to be 1360cc, standard overbores of a 1275 engine take you to 1293, 1312, and 1330, with a 73.5mm bore giving you 1380cc. if it's a 1380 with a decent cam, a weber 40 is likely to be too small, most people would use a 45.

If you need any more info about engine sized, or carb sizes to suit, I'm sure you'll find it here on the forum

good luck, and ejoy the build ;)

ah! 73mm pistons, what a great idea!

Somehow they have passed me by, never seen them before, but it makes sense really

I'd still say a single weber 40 carb will be a little too small if you're hoping for a really decent power output. there have been quite a few discussions on the subject.

Looking good mate, mines still getting panels replaced left right and centre (and underneath!)

Mine's an original 1978 1275gt, Previous owner bought in 1989 so had for near on 20 years, prior to that was a lady for 10 years, prior to that a rich Arab for 1 year who did about 600 miles! So 3 previous owners.

right time for an up-date, over the last week ive finished the drivers side door step, outer sill and rear quater, ive also put two new front floor pans in and one rear. today ive put a new passanger door step and bottom rear quater and outer sill. also today ive took the front and rear sub-frames off and flipped the mini on its side to seam weld it underneath,i started welding but ran out of gas so i started stripping the old under seal off. i managed to do the center section and prime it. once its all welded up ill do the same all over then stone chip the lot. (ps my neighbours love me doing this on my drive) :dozing:
