I've removed my rear seats as i never planned on using them, but i don't really like the bare metal, has anyone carpeted over their rear seats? And has any one got any pictures or advice they could give me on this?

How about maybe making a box that fits in where the rear seats did and put a sound system in!

Sorry was hard to try and get some good pictures as the seats get in the way

how hard is that to do because i was going to mount a sub in the rear bulk head but after seeing that im thinking about going from the parcel shelf to the end of the old seat botto bit and then mount a couple more in the rear bins.

does the bored require much shaping?

We shaped the back part to the shape of the rear seats so it was easy to fit in! It did require some minor adjustments!
Its all about getting the measurements right. It was a case of trial and error really.

The box is supported into the bottom of the seat base where the old seats would have been secured!

Wow that looks really smart, I might have to try that now, makes much more sense than trying to carpet the awkward seats. Also sorry for the late reply everyone.

EDIT: Scott would you mind saying also what material and thickness you used as well as where you got the carpet from, thanks , George.

Right mate... For the box unit itself, meaning sides and front i used 12mm thick MDF. For the back of the uniy i used 6mm MDF this is where the speakers and AMP are mounted.

The carpet is acoustic carpet just covered over the top of the MDF.

Definetely go for the rear seat ICE install it's what backseats were invented for (Well with the exception of one thing that springs to mind )

Here's a few pics of what me and a mate did with some MDF, accoustic cloth and some spray glue.







I have installed 2 amps undeneath it all , one for the 6 x 9's and one for the sub. It's bloody wicked and defo surprises folk.

Will try and get some daytime pics to show it off better and show the amps off.

I know im kinda digging this one up, but where abouts have you mounted the rear of your harness?

Also i dont suppose someone knows the length from bin to bin? (Closest edges to the center of the car)
