Yep! :mrcool:

He said he'd hopefully be able to start by the end of this week and I might be being hopeful but having it back in time for Christmas would be lovely, we'll see.

Any weekends free I get I will be home and in the garage still! as I'd like to get the engine put back together properly and ready to drop in.

I had some spare time this weekend so popped home :)

George is making progress with the shell, he said he'll provide me with some photos when he can!

I decided my main priority now is to get the engine stripped apart again and rebuild, just to be confident it's all together properly.

Ran into a few problems along the way.. hopefully I can borrow a flywheel puller tomorrow to get the clutch off.

I also need to refresh almost all the gaskets as well.

I also won't be turboing it straight away.. it'll be a standard 998cc with a 12g295 head, K&N air filter, uprated needle (can't remember the details) & the 2" maniflow exhaust. so it'll be a little pokier than normal.

Posted Image

Because my shell is now out, Dad has his 1956 norton model 50 frame up on the lift with the fuel tank & engine behind and on the floor. So my engine sits nicely behind on the work horses.

Posted Image

Freshly repainted floor as I'd gotten it a bit messy.. as we are also both as the clean points of our rebuilds, it made sense to freshen the floor up a bit to keep the grot away.

Lifted up and positioned.

Working away.

Starting to come apart.

As I took each bit of they were all cleaned (I'd managed to cover just about everything in red oxide dust!)

12g295 head off.

How I left things looking.

Can't beat a tidy working environment! I find I work a lot better when it's all clean, tidy and organised!

Right, I've decided that I will be turboing it straight away.. I've got until the shell comes back to get it fully prepared and fitted so seeing as the engine is my only priority now it gives me a few more weekends of focusing only on it.

I popped across to James (1275 SPRITE) earlier to borrow a flywheel puller and he is in the final stages of sorting his 1293cc T3 turbo, it looks bloody good!

Right..

Posted Image

Flywheel puller & a crank pulley wheel he kindly gave me to replace my mashed up one. He also gave me trigger wheel that he no longer needs, this might come in use when I'm fitting my megajolt. So a huge thankyou to him!

Posted Image

Clutch off.

Posted Image

Don't forget I've already stripped the engine once, so the clutch was replaced with a turbo one.

Posted Image

Housing off.

Posted Image

Block split.

Posted Image

Tested the re-coiled sump plug with petrol as this is less viscous than hot oil & as the petrol didn't leak, the hot oil certainly won't.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Everything cleaned and organised.

Posted Image

Final job of today was to straighten the timing chain cover out.

Posted Image

Straightened up, keyed and etched.

Posted Image

2 coats of paint, I'll do another when I'm next back.

Posted Image

Touched up the block as well.

Looking forward to putting it back together when I'm back again!

looks good man! some twin HS2 would compliment the 295 well, plus, they always look good! lol

should be nice all turbo'd, bet you are looking forward to it, but sensible to get running and get organised before...

Doh! totally missed that. Been a while since I've seen one so it caught my interest. An old buddy of mine had a Tridenent ( I beleive it was aTriumph in a Norton Frame set up for racing)

Great update, a really good build thread with lots of information, and great pictures, I've learnt quite a bit from it actually.

Engine's looking tasty.
