both sides of the scuttle have been repaired but over the top of the old metal

firstly plans, i'm going for classic looking on 10" wheels & group 2 arches, 1293 ish engine, duck egg sort of paint
and the cover in black.
Wayne is also going for classic looking on 10" steel wheels with classic chrome trims and group 2's, 1275 engine and some sort of weird dark clarach paint :w00t:

Yesterday was the first day of the project, we soon got stuck in stripped everything off and began deciding what needed replacing and what we could repair.
wayne's mini needs 2x wings, 1x front end, 2x a panels, repairs to both scuttle ends, outer sills inner sills, complete new floor, repair to o/s end of cross member, repair to tunnel, repairs to rear arches, repairs to load bay and finaly a complete rear valence.
mine needs front valence repair, complete new rear valence, a repair to the rear sub frame and repair to the rear arches.

all that in mind we set to work and cut the front of wayne's mini leaving the inner wings which are in surprisingly good condition.

we then had a bbq, got drunk and i fell asleep and slept all the way through the 2 programs i've been excited about watching all week!

today we went shopping at min-its and bought more new metal and new subframe mounts. Then retro 10s paid us a visit and helped me identify the engines that came with them. ( an 850 and a 1000 )
i then rubbed down my roof and started bashing and filling the dents.

tomorrow maybe some welding after i've done a bit on retros orange beast.

i think it's about time wayne introduced himself...... :w00t:

Great find,

I can see this becoming a star TMF project :w00t:

Dread to think what will happen if it gets to looking for a pair of rare pick up bits 'n you can find only one, it could get nasty

Nice find, and good luck. That lid looks interesting. I wonder if it's the same as mine?

It's what happens when you realise there's only 10 days to go before the BH2N and there's still no back on the thing. It's some sort of plastic donated by my nice neighbour which is tricky to cut, with a couple of mini boot hinges (offset so awkward to angle, but it was all I could find) with shims made out of bits of wood and sprayed black ;D. The plastic is edged with whatever trim was in the plastic bag where you put all the leftover trim bits from other jobs. The window came down just on to the twist studs and was fastened by bits of plastic sleeved gardening wire! Very secure, not.

Properly done I guess it'll be some stuff Dan knows the name of but which I've forgotten, plus hydraulic struts and a decent lock or two.

The lid is fixed to the body with six bolts + butterfly nuts. The front edge sits in the rear rain gutter, right?
