After another great trip to Castle Coombe this year, and a fast few laps round the circuit which went really well.... so well infact that I decided I wasn't going to sell the Mini!!!!

[attachment=70874:PT8C0096.JPG]

We headed back to the campsite to pack up the tent and everything else, and get on our 4 hour trek back to Suffolk. Everything was going well, practically all the way down the M4 just before the M25 turn off and then.......

From the Castle Coombe thread.....

Anyone know who the poor couple were on the M4 who were rear ended big time on the way home? Their car was a mess.

That will be me and Karen then!!!

Yes we are fine both walked away from it, well all the way to the central reservation to get out of the fast lane lol. The worst injury we sustained was the knat bites waiting on the hard shoulder for the recovery to turn up

Basically after quite a slow stretch on the M4 due to another accident we finally got moving again and was happily motoring down the inside lane doing about 70mph, just before the M25 turnoff. Cars in front of me started braking so I put the brakes on and instantly the rear drivers side wheel locked up.... no idea why..... that sent me spinning at about 60-65 mph across the 4 lane section of motorway into the side of a under a year old Mondeo estate which then spun me round into the crash barrier in the fast lane, where the Mini stayed.

We both got out of the car after a minute of checking to see if we were still alive lol
The 2 in the Mondeo were totally fine as well which is the main thing

Holy shniz!! Totally gutted for you mate, as others have said, one of the nicest Minis, let alone Clubbys around. Main thing is that all involved are ok though. Are you planning to rebuild?! :P

Well I've had the accessor round this morning to have a look, and he is writing it off as an uneconomical repair, and thats with the agreed value of 4.5 on it.
Looks like i will get to keep it, fingers crossed, but chances are it won't be back on the road.

Needs....
Front Panel
Wing
A Panel
Quarter Panel
Inside quarter panel
Rear Panel
Rear Bumper
Front Bumper
Rear lights
Bootlid.... plus Nurburgring sticker lol
Steering rack
CV/ drive shaft possibly

Repair to
Scuttle
Bonnet
Door

All floors seem to be ok, the front subframe didn't seem to move, and the boot floor actually still looks ok, but not 100% sure on that.

So any quotes of under £1000 would be great lol

Bugger! Sounds like a change of pants was needed after that incident. So sorry to see this stunning car damaged so badly. Glad you're ok though and no one was injured.

 Lucky you only hit, were hit by, one car!

Never mind, you'll have to do the sensible thing and rebuild it so it's even faster :P

Ah so not so straight forward as someone going into the back of you then. Not good! Sounds like you were very lucky (in an unlucky manner if you get what I mean).

Take it easy for the next few days then just incase you did pull something.
