Pump the pedal with the engine off, and hold the pedal down, then start the engine. The brake pedal should'relax' if the servo is working.

Had my NCB on my Mini until late September when I bought a cheap Fiesta as a daily runaround. Decided to remove the NCB off the Mini and put it on the new Fiesta insurance. Mini insurer sent me a letter proving I had removed the NCB from the Mini, so I sent this to Fiesta insurer as proof of NCB. 4 times I have sent this now, they refuse to accept it as they state "My Mini insurance has not been cancelled, so the NCB off it cannot be used". I have tried telling them numerous times tha...

t I wont be cancelling my Mini insurance, and that I have removed the NCB from it, but its like talking to a wall. Anyway today I get a letter from Fiesta insurer asking me to prove my NCB or my insurance will be cancelled at a cost of £50 + the whole years premium. Also a veiled threat about passing my details to the DVLA. I told them to cancel it there and then. Cost me £50 but cant be bothered with the hassle anymore

Changed my oil, and now when hot my Oil pressure is showing 8-10 psi lower than before. Level is correct. Do certain oil brands give better pressure?

New daily driver. X-regd Fiesta, 12 months MOT, £400. Cant go wrong at that price! (Although it probably will end up going wrong more often than the Mini!)

You do know what ford stands for right? Fix or repair daily. Every ford I have owned has lived up to this. They have been utter sh**e.

Thinking of getting a cheap daily. Spotted a 1996 1.4 VW Polo going cheap. Are old VW's as reliable as they are made out?

Things do go wrong on them. My neighbour has one, and more has gone wrong on that than my Fiat of around the same age and price range.

All depends on hows its been looked after really. My friend brought a m3 golf 1.4 and deliberately drove it abusivly everywhere as once the insurance ran out it was getting scrapped as it knocked rattled and was generall ruined, he never killed it even sat at max rpm for an hour and doing full bore starts everywhere! As a general rule yes vws are compared to other marques but not faultless and I'm a huge vw fan!

Probably temping fate but I've had a few VWs - all into very high mileage - and I've never had one break down on me. As long as they've been well serviced, they're great.

Do the bulb holders in the rear lights disconnect anywhere? They seem to be soldered in and it dosent look like the light cluster will come out without cutting the wire.

There should be some bullet connectors in the wiring loom that runs through the boot that you can disconnect. The lights come out with about 6 inches of wire attached to them.
