Looking at torque settings; does "Caliper retaining bolts" mean the bolts that keep the caliper together, or the bolts that hold the caliper to the hub?

If you fully sound dampen and then carpet underlay the inside of a mini, is the quietness noticeable? Or is vibration the only thing it properly prevents?

Thing is, I know someone else doesn't because when I bought the mini, the hole for the right hand stalk had a sheared off nut stuck in it. Which means the stalk was probably cut out..

Now, how much work is replacing all four upper and lower front hub balljoints? A lot? I've just seen that for discbrake models, you need a washer over the driveshaft to refit the hub.

It not that hard dude :) Did it myself about 6 months ago, took about 30-40 mins to do each one, including dismantling and rebuilding. Make sure you lap them in :)

The ball joints tend to have ridges in them from manufacture so they have to be removed by using grinding paste to smooth them off and make them a good fit. Search "lapping ball joints" on here, there's a few discussions and guides; there's also a very good one on YouTube :)
