Been using a ring spanner that's quite long but it doesn't want to budge.

use a 1/2 drive socket and bar, and be carefull to not strip the threads, gearbox casings are quite soft :(

Brilliant. My Mini's cylinder head went for machining for a set of exhaust seats. Its coming out with new guides, cut inlet seats and a head skim... I can feel my wallet groaning already...

So, sanding and filling the miglia. Do I go the whole hog and fill it/beat it so it's shiney and straight or leave a few creases and dents for history's sake. The car was rolled and presumed written off but was rebuild and jigged back to straight at longbridge prototype plant!! Opinions please I think history!

If you're having it matte then I would leave the dents.

Why don't you restore it to how it was pre crash?

Look at the thread, it was in a road-sport guise when he rolled it, then he built it to a full racer spec, then put it in a barn for 30 years. When we dragged it out I loved the look so much, you just dont see it at all at shows, I want something different, something with history. I already have my super shiney show car clubman, this is the other end of the scale;)
