If you just straight into a (minimum 143bhp VVC) you'll wrap it and yourself round a tree in no time. A K-Series is a big step up from an a-series powered mini or metro, and even the 1.4 16v has double the power of most minis, dont narrow your market by looking for a VVC, 1.4 8v's are quick enough for somebody with limited driving experience

There was a fairly lengthy article by K.C on different exhausts, the result was that a 2" pipe single box system, compared to an RC40 was around 4-5bhp, so 10% of a 998's power.

I always use a sportex comp black exhaust system. 1-3/4" bore and cheap (on ebay for around £60-80). I've used it on 850's up top 1380 and have always found it to give good power boost and economy and has a nice note that doesn't give you a headache at 70+
