Any ideas on roughly how much it would cost to swap tyres from alloys to steels? I would do it myself at work, but my boss doesn't have a day off for a while...

Yeah my boss is the biggest of knobs going. I know exactly what he will say, and anyway I'm not in work for a while. If you worked for him, you would realize how much a knob he is. Noone in the company is even attempting to save his job, which says something as we are the tech centre for PSA across the road from the head office. He goes mad at you if you bring you car in to take your own tools home.

After speaking to a friend, I have started to wonder: Is it unsafe to use second hand wheels on my mini? Will they randomly break while driving?

old alloys can suffer from cracks. I personally would have any old alloys crack tested before use. Old steels should be ok just check for any excessive corrosion or wear where the wheel nuts locate.

Ok, that makes sense. Would a wheel shop be able to do a crack test? Like the people who do wheel balancing and refurbish wheels.

Thing is I had to get two of the wheels refurbished and so I asked the people at a mag refurbishment place to check all four and they said they were fine.
