Going to BMW Liverpool to collect some plastic clips. The one way system and traffic will be 'fun'.

Just be aware of the busses and taxis only roads, sat navs aren't normally programmed for that sort of thing.

You guys are lucky, there are honest people who do work on minis. Over here I have found that if I'm not sure what is wrong, I'd be better off asking a friend who is more experienced. It always seems like the mechanics are trying to rip people off, doubly so when they think I don't know how much it is going to cost!

Oh really? I've only had 1 bad experience with a garage here, went in saying what I thought was wrong as had spoke to my dad who builds cars and got an over the phone diagnosis then the garage turned it into 3 separate things, quoted me £220 without labour - went to garage I now use all the time and he sorted it there and then with no charge at all!!! Hate people trying to do people over, no need for it.

Hence I rely on mini friends online (TMF and Facebook) and in person (guys who do work on their own cars). Usually someone is willing to help with guidance of some kind or another and it saves loads on workshop fees.

Four of us (and meeting up with another two friends who live in Phoenix). We're spending Christmas Day in a log cabin at the Grand Canyon and then wander back up to San Francisco for New Year. So looking forward to it.
