Does anyone know where to get a rubber gasket for the fuel sender unit and what type of sealer to use?

I just fitted a new sender yesterday! Mine was only reading 3/4 when I filled the car then was reading empty after 100 miles, I checked out the MPG and got it to around 40 so I knew it was lying! I filled the car to the brim then made a note of the mileage, I then did 200 miles to run the tank low enough to remove the sender without fuel coming out or running out of fuel, knock the ring around remove and refit with a new rubber ring, I would make sure the ignition is off just in case...

Been driving around like it for a year, if I fill it up it reads full then after a couple miles it will drop to empty! Been trying to keep it low on fuel so I can get it done maybe just a little too low. Thanks for the advise, just ordered a seal and locking ring off ebay so hopefully will get it done start of next week.
