My '95 SPi mini is behaving pretty strange at the moment. When i turn my heater on or the rear screen heater on the electrics cut out for everything except the headlights, main beam and the hazards. The immobilizer also makes its "arming" sound. This also happens every time i put the car into reverse? Any ideas?

Yes, ask a question in the technical section, there's no room for proper replies here and it will drop off the list too soon.

Debating whether to rip off the union jack decals on the roof of the mini....hmmm

Don't rip! Be careful .... You might have a ghost underneath. Part of mine came away and I realised just how not white the exposed roof was anymore after 17 years!

Road trip to castle coombe in the mini tomorrow, then driving it round castle coombe, just wondering what to take with you when you go long distance in a mini, what do you take tools, fluids etc wise?

Took everything you said and more. Spent 12 hours pretty much in the mini today, ran fine for an hour and forty there, drove fine at Castle Combe but on the way home the engine kept spluttering under load, suspect an electrical issue, had to call the aa and keep stopping to cool the engine but got home eventually. I wish I had taken a spare mini now.

Oh well, I was pretty impressed at how long it lasted without a hitch at 80mph.

Any tips on cleaning the engine bay of my 1275 sprite? Good amount of grime-not been cleaned in a very long time by the previous owners. Bit nervous about it and i dont really know what to do or where to start. Doesn't need to be perfect but just better than it is.

As above. Just did mine, just be sure to cover all the electrics well and be careful when rinsing. I also ran the car after to dry everything off - word of warning, Gunk degreaser stinks. I'd try something like autoglym first.

If anyone is nearby to Castle Coombe, the under 17 driving club is holding a magic day where people turn up with interesting cars and offer people rides in them for charity. PM me if anyone would be interested in bringing their mini, it would be so cool for a bunch of minis to turn up and do their bit.

My foot is feeling much better already, can't walk far but I could drive the mini I reckon, if only I had it back!

I can only imagine that the pain would be much much worse! Luckily I've just found out it isn't a break, just that the bones have become misaligned, meaning that I have to wear the boot for about 2 weeks and then it's all go with the mini, I've taken the time to send it to the garage to get some of the essential work done for me, I finally have an excuse not to do it myself;)

I have no excuse - all my work goes to a garage. Glad it's not a break tho and hopefully it'll have stopped raining by the time you're all healed :-)

I don't blame you if I'm honest, I wish I had enough cash to do that... Should be right as rain for castle coombe in a few weeks time.
