Adding a paper gasket may effect the O ring compression & sealing. Thinking about using a v thin application of Hylomar away from the O ring to reduce the water ingress.

Brake fluid leaked into the joint on mine and caused corrosion and failure of the o-ring. Could that be the cause? After re-painting, I sourced a brake fluid resistant o-ring.

It seems a very limited design, the joint seals the vacuum only with the o-ring. There is nothing to keep stuff out of the joint which could compromise it.

Thanks. I was scratching my head with this. Access to the nut is very limited.
I will be popping down to Screwfix tomorrow.
