If you haven't chosen a destination yet just don't copy the antics of an Oozlum bird.

I've got one but it's not the same - it's helps a little though. The hedgetrimmer stinks of two stroke oil so that's no good.

The M1 in Northamptonshire is so smart now it doesn't have a hard shoulder anymore. It felt dangerous at night with little traffic, must be horrible when it's busy! Cheap way of gaining an extra permanent lane though. There is the occasional refuge if you're lucky enough to break down in the right place.

I drove from J14 to J10 and back of the m1 for a show in the mini over the summer one Sunday. My option of the ‘smart’ motorways is. Using the hard shoulder as an extra lane to increase capacity, great. What’s not so great is using the hard shoulder/smart lane when allowed to do so, only to find 2 miles down the road it’s closed (you get fined for using it when closed). So you then have to either speed up/slow down and pull out into the ‘slow lane’, which I found stressful especially if…

someone on the right hand side was being a dick and deliberately either speed up/slowed down to make it difficult to do so. And then I’d find a mile or so further along the ‘smart’ lane open again. In the end Rather than having to keep puling over, speeding up/slowing down each time I just gave up and stuck to the traditional ‘slow lane’ and stick to a constant steady speed (which was better for my mpg) And I couldn’t give a monkeys if the left hand ‘smart’ lane was open and empty.

It was a 1968 Car I used to look after...I thought it was hard and a bit high. Amazing
2 advantages; lowers the centre of gravity and stops the MOT man prodding holes with a screw driver
