Strawberries and Steam Fair today. Lots of those miniature steam engines there. I asked a bloke what they were used for and he said "nothing". Just a toy apparently. Seemed like a waste of coal to me. It could at least power something?

Ha! I asked a similar question here at a country fair last year...and got about the same response. Owner wasn't very pleased with my question.

Just all seemed a bit ... irrelevant really ... I know it's a hobby but I just couldn't see the attraction (unless you like squatting on them and trundling around at about 1.5 miles an hour). Just seemed like loads of work and effort just to make a little wheel go round and some rods to go back and forth.
