But did he do them at TDC Firing ? not rule of 9 but have see it done that way on lots of stuff

Maybe I was exaggerating a tad. I'll rephrase by saying the inlet valve on cylinder 4 had about minus 8-10mm valve clearance so the valve remained always open meaning no compression in that cylinder! DOH! Guess I should have bought a compression tester sooner! This caused all sorts of issues whilst trying to tune my twin hs2's!
