I know exactly how you feel. Honestly! Just take it as it comes and take a few deep breaths, stay calm. Take no chances at all, even if a gap seems big enough then hold back if you're unsure and just wait, make the instructor feel safe. I held back a few times and expected to get minors for hesitation but I didnt get a single one so it really is best to hold back if you're unsure, even if the car is a fair way away.
