im just thaght i woudl let you know a mk4 polo saloon also had two variation of engines similar if not the same as the mk4 hatch
the saloon also has a 75bhp and a 100bhp engine fitted to it.so you mite find one abit cheeper if you looked for a saloon lump
also the mk4 8v gearbboxes arnt great. my old mk4 used to pop out of reverse and its not rare for them to give up.
ive rebuilt a few early my vw engines so far and there very straight forward. if you didnt opt fot a mk3 gt engine the engine code nz was also quite quick.

the engine im after would have to be the 1.4 16V one, that gives me 100bhp... as i could get 75 from an aseries easily... i just want something fast!!! lol
how would i make the mini a cable clutch then??

lot of work for 100 Hp
dont you think, one of the mini mags had a feature on a polo engine in a mini must be about a year ago. A German gent builds them to sell I understand.
