I have no idea if this would work but thought I would throw in an idea.

I qualified as commercial diver a couple of years ago and in the training school they had a load of different engines around some from generators, some from boats and some used to drive air compression equipment. I was looking around one day and realised one of the engines was a completely waterproofed marine diesel A series engine so long story short they did make diesel A series engines, looked like same mounts and everything, so possibly you could get your hands on one of these and cross it with a normal A series and hey presto???

And when you decide what diesel to put in speak to SPecialist components for an out of the box ECU solution which may be much easier to do.

Im running a daihatsu 3cyl turbo diesel in mine runs good on home made bio diesel the mounts are the same as the petrol motor so if you can get a inno subframe from the late model turbos the motor is an easy fit, factory specs are 48bhp and 85nm torque, this is slightly higher on bio and can easily be made better by upgrading the turbo, I haven't bothered with mine because the car is a daily driver and mainly used around town so the extra power wasn't needed  :closed:

If you go the pug/metro route (as I intend to) go for the 1500 not the 1400 as they are a better engine!

Glad to hear I'm not the only bio deisel nutter out there!
